VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF GREEN VALLEY HAS OUR OWN FOUNDATION
Late in 2006 Valley Presbyterian church was fortunate to receive a generous bequest from the Bowyer Family Trust. Several years earlier we had taken out articles of incorporation and with this large gift the Session approved setting up our new Foundation. This Foundation is totally separate and apart from the Presbyterian USA Foundation. Since 2007, with additional gifts and bequests, our Foundation Fund has passed the $1.1 million dollar mark. |
Our Foundation was set up with by-laws that ensure that our funds will be used only for unusual and special needs. The Foundation funds cannot be used for general church operations. This helps to insure that we will always have funds for special and unusual needs. The Session can request funds from the income earned in the prior calendar year, if there are special situations that need funds. This policy helps to be sure funds will be available in perpetuity for special future needs.
WHAT IS AN EXAMPLE OF SOME UNUSUAL OR SPECIAL NEEDS FOR OUR FUNDS?
As part of the repair and remodeling necessary this year after the sprinkler system pipe break, the session wanted to do some additional renovations and improvements. Session requested funds from our Foundation to cover some of these items and also to do a complete update to our computer and church software systems. The VPC Foundation was able to provide over $39 thousand dollars to be used for these unusual needs.
HOW CAN I HELP WITH FUTURE NEEDS?
A gift to our VPC Foundation can be a made in a number of different ways.
