Dr. George and Mary Sweet led other residents in contacting the Presbytery de Cristo about the feasibility of starting a new Presbyterian church in Green Valley
Rev. Joe Hawkins accepted the call to be the organizing pastor of the new church (September 17)
Worship services were first held in the East Center (October 23)
The church was incorporated. A group of 188 residents committed to become Charter Members of the new church (February 5)

Members formed the Network of Caring, keeping neighbors in touch with each other and the church
Property was acquired (January 7) and Duane Von Fange was hired to be architect of the building (May 28)
Members, desiring to impact the community, organized the first Patio Sale. $3,200 was distributed to charities the first year.
The new building was dedicated at a service of worship (February 7). The building incorporated a wonderful mountain view to the east, and represented the Trinity in the three arched windows.
