Interim Director of Music (may become permanent)

Position Summary
Oversee all aspects of the Music Ministry

• Select music for; rehearse and direct the Sanctuary Choir and Valley Ringers (bell choir) and Taize’ musicians
• Closely collaborate with the accompanist
• Incorporate additional music to enrich the worship experience provided by the accompanist, soloists and small groups
• Regularly meet with the Pastors in planning worship services
• Work closely with the Worship and take on the leadership of the Music Committee
• Oversee the volunteer choir librarian, choir secretary and director of the Joyful Spirit Ensemble (Orff)
• Secure and arrange compensation for outside musicians as needed 

​Requirements
Possess a commitment to enriching the Christian worship service through music

• Experience in choral and hand bell directing
• Capability in leading and enhancing a strong church music program
• Possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

 
Time Commitments
Weekly meetings with the Pastors for Worship planning

• For May through August:  Sunday mornings for rehearsal and worship
• For September through April:  in addition to Sunday worship and rehearsals, mid-week rehearsals for Sanctuary Choir and Valley Ringers
• Occasional additional services throughout the year; for example, during Advent and Lent 

Accountability
Interim director for Music is accountable to the Pastor/Head of Staff
