Kay Albrecht

Kay graduated from Adams State College, CO where she studied choral conducting with Dr. Maurice Skones. She taught music in the public schools for 30 years in Pueblo and Jefferson County, CO, and later in Fairfax County, VA. Teachers in Fairfax County were encouraged to be Orff-Schulwerk specialists, and Kay spent several summers at George Mason University training for her certification.
Kay has been Director of Music at Valley Presbyterian Church since 1999 when she, and Interim Pastor George Pike, began the annual tradition of offering a Favorite Anthems Concert to the community. In May of 2007, she and the Sanctuary Choir performed at Carnegie Hall.
In 2008, Kay founded the Joyful Noise Academy as a music outreach program for children. The academy offers instruction with the Orff instruments in an exciting and unique approach to music education. Read more about this program by clicking this link JNA.
